Duster HiLites

(or... I could'a quit right then!)

The first show I attended after the "restification" of the Duster was the 1989 Muscle Car Nationals in Gainesville, Fl. It was amazing the attention the car got. I believe it was due to the fact that up to that point not many people were putting much time into Dusters... things are a little different now.

While at that show, my first one mind you, I was approached by Muscle Car Review Magazine and a photographer doing a calender! The photos were out in the magazine(Yes... that's the Duster on the cover!) the following year, (April 1990), and the calender was a 1992 issue. I could'a quit the hobby right then and been content with my accomplishments.

2 Trips to the Nat's...

I was fortunate enough to be able to take the Duster to Columbus two consecutive years for the Mopar Nat's.

The first time, 1990, I trailered it up in the company of two friends. We had a blast. For 1991, things would be a little different... my friend Bill and I would drive the 1000+ miles behind the wheel of the 340. The trip was documented and published in Mopar Muscle the following year. That was a great experience and one that we will never forget.

These are two of my favorite pictures from the trips to the Mopar Nationals in the Duster:

This shot was early one morning at the track. I was trying to adjust things in preparation for some runs down the track. The only problem was I had no friggin' idea what I was doing! I think I ran a best of 15.8? E.T.

This picture was taken by a local(Jax)club member who was also at the Nat's that year. That's me cruisin' Brice Road. The thrill was all they say, but the 45 minutes it takes to go up the street and back once or twice is enough to keep you spectating.

One Last Thing...

While thumbing through this issue of Mopar Collectors Guide at the mall, a tiny picture on the index page caught my eye. I quickly turned to the story as directed by the listing and......

There I was.....caught in action, cruisin' Brice Road, right next to a '70 AAR 'Cuda.
