The Road Runner/GTX took me 3 years to complete. The work was well worth it and the whole proccess was quite a learning experience. Let me take you on a brief tour through the restoration of this car....

Your typical 20+ year old muscle car!
This car needed some serious attention and it needed it now. As typical for a 20 year old muscle car, everything had been replaced, repaired, cut or lost along the way. All I had to do was start over!

What originally was indended to be a "refresh" of the car turned into a major big deal of a restoration.

Nothin' like sand blasting to clean things.
The driver's inner fender panel and lower core support were replaced....

Those will last a while!

...along with full floors on both sides of the interior. After prying up piles of fiberglass, I found that total replacement was the only coarse.

Before.................and after

Door hinge area

Only thing bolted in place is the Dana.
One thing lead to another and off came the entire front suspension for detailing. The contraption at the front of the car is half of my rotiserrie... it makes a great front holder-upper.

I spent a lot of time leveling dings and waves. I thought I had it ready for paint... that is until my painter got a look at it. You'd think I hadn't done a damn thing after his pointing out of areas that needed finishing....

Hell... I thought I was done.

Well, I said, if you can do better then go right ahead... and he did. He did the work, and paint, in his garage at his home over a period of about 6 months.

While the car was being painted I spent my time replacing or restoring all the stuff that was to go back on the car. That 6 months seem to last forever. Once the car was home it didn't take long to make good progress in re-assembling things.

It always feels great to drop a new engine in its place.......

....and likewise for the interior.

It really started to look like a 'Runner with the grill in place.

It wasn't long after that and I was driving. The Wife and I trailered it to the Nat's ('97) where "Mopar Action" took some pics for a future issue... Man I wish they'd hurry up!
