Week #105

Can you believe it? The day had finally arrived. I would be taking the unibody to the professional body man for final panel straightening and paint. I couldn't get up early enough.

Several months back I happened across a good deal on an enclosed trailer. I had wanted one for quite a while but new ones are expensive. This one is a 22' Pace with an extra door at the car's drivers door. The previous owner also had a rooftop AC unit installed. Seems he hauled around some very expensive restorations and used the AC to climate control the interior. Well, the first job I would have for the new trailer would be to get the unibody over to the body shop The Thursday before taking the car over I loaded it into the trailer. This trailer is nice in that the rear door drops down and forms a low, wide ramp to drive up into the rig on. I was able to single handedly push the unibody up the ramp and into position.

Saturday morning came and in the company of a Mopar buddy, I headed into town with the car. Unloading was as easy as loading. We were there about an hour spending most of the time looking over a '68 Shelby that the guy had been working on. You can see the nose of it in one of the pictures for this week.

Once it was there, the body man got a chance to look at the rear panel damage. I was glad that I didn't rush into replacing it. The body guy assured me that he could fix it with little to no filler. It turned out not near as bad as I thought.

I visited the shop on Monday around lunch time. The rear panel was 95% fixed. He had 3 hours in it.
